With the lockdown over, India is slowly getting used to a new normal. Domestic tourism is going to take the lead with drive market trips the most popular choice. Few have started travelling but not for leisure. Leisure domestic travel will begin by September and International business travel by October/November. Indian travel trade is getting too many virtual tours/webinars etc. and the attendance for these is waning. Information on safety measures and attractions’ reopening plans will stimulate interest. Since airlines and hotels will offer deals to influence customer buying behaviour, international travel is not likely to get more expensive in the short term.

Key takeaways:

  • Information has to be precise and interesting
  • Interest is high for destination/attractions’ safety measures and reopening plans for tourists
  • Leisure domestic travel will resume by September
  • International business travel will begin by October/November
